I love finding little hole-in-the-wall restaurants like this one. This whole shopping center is full of them, and you really canβt go wrong. The service was good, and the food was tasty and inexpensive. While you wonβt find them on the menu, they have these silver dollar-sized tacos, steak or chicken, that are only $1.59 each. You just have to ask for them.
Overview
Taqueria Y Restaurant El Primo at 744 E Chatham St Suite A, Cary, NC 27511, United States, brings the straightforward appeal of a neighborhood taqueria to a convenient Cary location. For diners searching for Mexican food without the formality of a special-occasion restaurant, the name itself sets an easygoing expectation: this is a place centered on the familiar taqueria experience. Its East Chatham Street address also makes it a practical option for local residents, workers, and visitors exploring dining choices around this part of Cary.
The restaurantβs identity is especially useful when deciding what kind of meal fits the moment. A taqueria naturally suggests a more casual approach to dining, making Taqueria Y Restaurant El Primo worth considering when the priority is an uncomplicated lunch or dinner rather than an elaborate night out. That distinction matters because Cary has a varied dining scene, and choosing between locations often comes down to atmosphere, convenience, and the type of food diners have in mind.
The menu is likely to be the main point of interest for anyone researching Taqueria Y Restaurant El Primo, particularly those looking for the flavors and dishes associated with Mexican taquerias. However, specific menu items, ingredients, portion sizes, prices, and preparation methods should be confirmed directly with the restaurant rather than assumed. Menus can change, and avoiding outdated details is particularly important for diners with dietary requirements or anyone planning an order around a particular dish.
Location is another practical advantage to consider. The restaurant is situated at Suite A, 744 E Chatham St in Cary, North Carolina, providing a precise destination for anyone planning a visit. When comparing Mexican restaurant locations around Cary, checking travel time, current opening hours, parking arrangements, and service options before leaving can make the experience smoother. These practical details can be just as important as the food when choosing somewhere for a quick weekday meal or a relaxed gathering.
Reviews of Taqueria Y Restaurant El Primo can also provide additional perspective, although individual dining experiences naturally vary. Recent customer feedback is generally more useful than older comments when researching factors such as service pace, atmosphere, consistency, and overall experience. It is also sensible to look for recurring observations across several reviews instead of relying heavily on a single unusually positive or negative account.
What makes Taqueria Y Restaurant El Primo easy to understand as a dining option is its clear positioning. The restaurant does not need an elaborate concept to communicate what potential guests can expect from the setting: the taqueria format points toward casual Mexican dining, while the Cary address makes it relevant to people specifically searching in the local area. For first-time visitors, checking the current menu and operating information before arriving remains the best way to match expectations with what is available on the day.

I ordered the carne asada tacos ! Absolutely delicious and tastes very authentic. The rice is pretty good but not the best Iβve ever had. The salsa verde is chefs kiss! I would definitely come back and I think Iβve found a new taco place!
Fantastic authentic Mexican restaurant! Staff is wonderful and this place was packed on a Monday at 2:30pm. They have everything you want from tradition Mexican food cooked to perfection with a slight crisp but not overdone. The refried beans were amazing and the Spanish rice could use a little more flavour and some vegetables in them but over it was great! I think they make their own corn tortillas here which were thick and did not break when folding! Definitely some of the best Mexican in Cary! They also sell Mexican candies and snacks at the register.
Very delicious birria tacos. Came with chopped jalapeΓ±os onions and cilantro and two sauces. Very delicious and I got it take out and was still freshly hot when I got to my house. The broth is delicious . Very friendly staff and cozy atmosphere.
If you like authentic Mexican food, definitely visit this restaurant. Everything is made to order and super fresh. Truly blown away! The birria tacos were spectacular, especially that broth!
We ordered to-go steak and carnitas tacos the day before and they were REALLY good. Tortillas were hand made on the spot and the meat was flavorful and cooked very well. The salsas provided were also very good. We went back the next day and dined in. They have a couple tables and chairs outside the entrance if you want to eat outdoors. Inside is kept well and clean. They have small, single persons bathrooms. The chips were good, salsas were good. The kids grilled chicken and rice was delicious. I was a little disappointed with the steak this time. It wasn't cooked like the one from the prior day. ACP (grilled chicken and rice with cheese was good. Tortillas were fresh, hand made. If you order beans, they only have the black beans.
